Lord Krishna is also addressed as Parthasarathy as he was the charioteer of Arjuna in the great Kurukshetra war. Today, let’s recollect how Lord Krishna became the charioteer of Arjuna and revealed the Holy Bhagavad Gita for the benefit of mankind.
As the great Mahabharata war became inevitable, both Pandavas and Kauravas started to meet Kings of various kingdoms to seek their support and armies. One day, both Arjuna and Duryodhana decided to go to Sri Krishna’s palace and seek his support. Duryodhana arrived first at the palace only to find that the Lord was taking a nap, so he took a seat beside His head. Arjuna arrived later and took a seat near His feet. When Lord Sri Krishna woke up, He saw Arjuna first as he was sitting near His feet. Duryodhana asked Sri Krishna to fight on the side of Kauravas as he came before Arjuna to the palace. Sri Krishna replied that it would be fair for Him to help both Kauravas and Pandavas in the war as He saw Arjuna first and gave two options to the two princes.
The Lord said that one of them could have His entire army (Narayani army), while the other could have only His guidance and He would not actively fight in the war. Duryodhana choose the army, while Arjuna wanted the Lord by his side. Hence, Sri Krishna became the charioteer of Arjuna and revealed the Bhagavad Gita to mankind when Arjuna broke down seeing his blood relatives and Gurus lined up on the opposite side.
