Seventh day of navratri (25th March this year) is dedicated to Maa Kaalratri who is the seventh manifestation of Goddess Durga. Though this form of Goddess Durga is the most dreadful form but she took this avatar for the good of her devotees. Mata Kaalratri has three eyes and four arms, she is holding a cleaver and a torch in her left two hands and her right two hands are in ‘giving’ and ‘protecting’ mudras. Her complexion is very dark and she has bountiful hairs, her eyes emanate rays in rage.
The meaning of Kaalratri is the ‘The Death of Kaal’. Maa Kalratri is the destroyer of all demonic entities; she killed the Devil named Raktabeej. Raktabeej had the power to multiply from every single drop of his blood felling on ground. Maa Kalratri killed her by licking every single drop of his blood before it touches the ground. She bestows courage and strength on her devotees.
Chant following mantra to worship Maa Kaalratri –
वाम पादोल्ल सल्लोहलता कण्टक भूषणा |
वर्धन मूर्ध ध्वजा कृष्णा कालरात्रि भर्यङ्करी ||
Vāma pādōlla sallōhalatā kaṇṭaka bhūṣaṇā |
vardhana mūrdha dhvajā kr̥ṣṇā kālarātri bharyaṅkarī ||
Maa Kaalratri removes evil influence from the lives of her devotees. Her worship on 7th day of Navratri is of high importance to Yogis and Sādhakas. Yogis and Sādhaka penance on Shahtra Chakra on this day. On this day all the doors to practice every siddhi and power are open for the worshippers.
