Transition of Rashi’s takes place on the auspicious day of Vrishabha Sankranti also known as Vrushabha Sankaram. Sun transits into Vreshabha rashi from Mesh rashi and mark the beginning of Vrishabha season. In Orissa this day is celebrated as Brusha Sankranti.

Significance of Vrishabha Sankranti
Vrishabha Sankranti marks the beginning of Vrishabha month according to hindu calendar. Lord Brahma is considered the creator of Universe, Lord Vishnu takes care of entire universe and Lord Shiva is the destroyer of the universe. Thus equilibrium is maintained and hence the cycle of living, existing, dyeing and taking re birth. Vrishabh Sankranti is a pious day to worship God and indulge in good deeds. On this day people worship the Gods to free them from ‘moh’ and ‘maya’ so that they can lead a better life and eventually free themselves from the cycle of birth and rebirth.
